I have not tried this recently because with Compiz I can get a
similar/better feature. If you would like me to try it again, I'd be
happy to install it and try again, but I wonder if there is much
demand for skippy now that Compiz is so well established.

Thanks for following up on this.
I don't know if this is part of the same issue, but my email address
autocompletion is also not functioning - ie it does not do anything when
I type in a name. So it appears that it is not able to read or pull from
my contacts.
