Sorry, can't seem to change my posts here.
noacpi made the busybox thing happen less often, but it still did. With
rootdelay=10 irqpoll I started the computer 11 times in a row without
problem.

Nevermind.. Just forgot to update-grub after editing /etc/default/grub.
*stupid* Looks like noacpi fixes the problem, I can live without ACPI on
a Pentium III.

Forgot to note: typing "exit" always works immediately. "irqpoll" option
also does not work.

Workaround, anyone?

Affects me too. Asus A6Va-Q016H, internal speakers work fine, when you
plug in the headphones the speakers go silent but the headphones are
silent too.
So from at least Ubuntu 6.06 to Ubuntu 11.04 this has always been a
problem.

I'm typing this message on a Pentium 3 laptop with lucid. 850Mhz, 384MB

You don't want update-apt-xapian-index on this machine.

Hi Martin Wimmer,
What appears to have worked for me is to start with "radeon.modeset=0".
This disables KMS. Run sudo gedit /etc/default/grub and add it after
quiet splash. (so make it "quiet splash radeon.modeset=0"). Then run
sudo update-grub.

Hi Martin Wimmer,
Similar problems here. MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital with RS690 running Lucid.
I've seen the screen flickering on startup, when starting an application
and my brother saw it the screen going blank and had to reset the
computer.
If there is no workaround for this I'm going to have to put
I just got this error on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. I'm not aware of having
changed anything yesterday. When starting the computer today the message
was there out of the blue.
When I ran /usr/lib/indicator-applet/indicator-applet nothing seemed to

I've had 1.64.6-1 going for weeks now and experienced no problems

So is it just me or is the solution really simple?

I've had the same problem, not exactly sure what triggers it.
I installed the Streamripper package version 1.64.6-1 from Karmic
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/streamripper) and had it going for
days now. You can install the package right away, dependencies are met
on Jaunty by default.

I figured out what happened: popstate.dat lost some records, apparently
this happens when you run out of disk space. Unfortunately there's not
really any way to rebuild popstate.dat based on inbox contents (guess
that's not going to work anyway with all the locally removed mail) so I

I had Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 running (and checking mail every 10min

My mailbox seems fine, but when I check for mail now, Thunderbird wants
to download 11.000 messa
I've found a workaround: use aptitude instead. Even though aptitude moo
