Ok I went into the server and it ended up as being ReiserFS corruption.
Repaired with:
$ sudo fsck.reiserfs --fix-fixable --adjust-size /dev/sda2

Great to hear some hopes on this!, even through some users had to wait
almost 2 years for this support, their patience will be rewarded!.
I'm on Linux 2.6.34-020634-generic and only SD works.

to wait for it and to hold the kernel update until then.

Public bug reported:
I have a central (local) server from which I listen to music in every
other computer, but today I wanted to grab some music to my laptop, I
started to copy a folder, which the music-server reports as 90MiB in
size, but I can't copy it to a 300GB partition because it says "No

>From the afore mentioned script, this are the supposed dependencies in
order to build ALSA:
header "Installing dependencies"
apt-get -y install bzip2 build-essential module-assistant libsysfs-dev
libncurses5-dev libncursesw5-dev gettext python-dev xmlto libpulse0
libpulse-dev libspeex-dev libav
I was using this utility:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137&page=74
Which requires xmlto, as you can see it's a big package as it removes
779MB when uninstalling.
Does not ALSA need this xmlto stuff to compile?
:~$ sudo apt-get autoremove xmlto
[sudo] password for vladim
I confirm that for a VAIO VPCEB15EL upgrading to ALSA 1.0.23 solves the
sound problem!!! (don't forget to remove related to HDA any line in
alsa-base.conf).
Problem is that it's not a simple solution as it involves to download
about 500MB in packages in order to build ALSA!.
