It should apply properly to git master HEAD (aka current upstream source from
git)
to test, save the attached patch file to your Desktop directory, then
do, in a terminal window:

I tried it (hexdump'ing /dev/input/event*) on ubuntu 10.10 and it looks
like the bug is not there any more...

Are you sure we should dismiss the modifications ?
What if the user did them mistakenly in the temp file,
the warning lets him know they may be lost...
Or maybe we should just make the buffer non editable,
but that me be useful sometimes...

I was running karmic on 2.6.31 almost fine (evdev was as usual completely not
working so I used kbd)
yesterday it was working and now the xserver doesn't start with:

What is missing from:

- preferences entry

The bug disappear when compiz is not active, so it may not be related to the
monitor.
I'd suspect the intel driver or the COMPOSITE extension of xorg.
But I'll try with another monitor, but that will also be with VGA
instead of HDMI...

I think I may have found the culrpit, the bug is reproductible with :
echo 'n' | svk info 1> /dev/null 2> /dev/null
which is used by meld internally...

When using some command-line application (meld latest git revision)
after the command has finished and the control is returned to the shell,
pressing the return key does not make the shell go to the next line, but
instead a new prompt is printed from where it was:

Another effect: in nautilus filemanager's combobox
to choose between modes (icon, list view, etc...)
when clicked, the choices appear only in the
1024x768 portion of the screen. so if the window
is in here, the choices appear at the right place,
whereas if the window is placed outside, the
choices
Another side effect of this bug happens when using synergy
to share the mouse and keyboard to another computer.
The cursor goes to the other computer just when passing
the 1024x768 limit. It should normally do that when crossing
the side of the screen.
