acpi=off did not help. tried acpi=off and irqpoll, also didnt work.
How do i get in far enough to attach the file? It's not even getting far
enough into the boot process to give me a bash prompt.

Must be a problem with ASUS boards. Mine's a P5LD2, and i'm getting the
exact same problem. I couldn't even start the liveCD, read thru the
