I had a similar issue in 9.04 trying to access a SMB NAS share. The
solution I found was to add the following lines to /etc/samba/smb.conf
under global (I haven't tried with only some of the lines, so one or the
other may be unnecessary)
client lanman auth = Yes
lanman auth = Yes
clien
I read the first half of the comments, and felt the pain of other users. I'll
post this first in hopes that it's useful to someone, to stop the Notify-OSD
(because you can't uninstall it without breaking ubuntu-desktop) type this in a
terminal:
sudo mv /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.
easy fix:
>run gstreamer-properties
>click on video
>under plugin select X Window System (no Xv)
then restart totem.
