There's a slight problem when the fixed kernel was only pushed to jammy-
updates and not jammy-security as AFAIK unattended-upgrades will only
pick up things from the security repo so if the broken kernel was
already installed on a system it won't self heal from it until a new
kernel is pushed ther

Sorry, would love to help but it's not up to me to disclose that
information even privately.
It's unfortunate if backporting the patch isn't possible as first aid

more often now it seems and it creates a lot of trouble if we

For what it's worth, the problem is that the game .so files are compiled
without `-fvisibility=hidden` causing all symbols in the shared objects
to be global which then causes some sort of symbol conflict on load and
wrong functions being called. The fix would be adding it to compiler
flags.

To be honest that's not a bad idea, thanks for the tip as I never would
have thought to look for a snap.
There are some caveats but I think I can live with them as long as
Amazon keeps good care of the snap. Synchronizing the "real" package
with cosmic/sid from time to time would be nice as well.

The apparmor profile from libvirt doesn't seem to work, only tearing
down apparmor completely makes it tick. Getting that fixed for Ubuntu
would be a big help.
If you need to test this, use virt-manager with a user session and try
to use an existing bridge as the interface for a VM. You also need
Reading the original Debian thread I don't really disagree with the
packager but there should at least be a better way to permanently enable
the setuid bit and have a correct apparmor profile so it would be
possible to use it.
I qemu://session as a regular user with virt-manager because it helps

And now it happens again after -9's initrd image was rebuilt. Though the

After some big update batches the problem has disappeared, I suspect the
fix was not in the kernel package itself and instead the initrd package
was rebuilt without some problematic component.

Public bug reported:
The first packages of 3.0.0 had this problem up to -6 if I remember
correctly, -6 booted but failed to mount, -7 worked just fine and -8
started this hanging again.
The hang happens between grub and "Starting up..." so that seems the
kernel loading itself is somehow bugged.
The usual situation I have is that I have mounted a network filesystem
and over that mounted a CD-ROM image using a loop device. If I forget to
unmount the loop device before I shutdown or reboot the system will hang
at unmounting for a long time because of the order of unmount (nfs
before loop).
