I'm no expert on the security issue with IDN but it is used on the
Internet today and both nslookup and host is very good tools to diagnose
problems in some cases. There ought to be some way to implement IDN into
the tools without compromising security.

no IDN in nslookup and host

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-nettool
Gnome-nettool doesn't support IDN If you try , for example, to get the
IP for "registrera-domän.se" it fails every time. As the use of IDN is
increasing I think it would be a good thing if this tool supported IDN.

I had the same problem in feisty. It also affected thunderbird, I use

install --reinstall firefox libnspr4 libnss3" and it solved the problem
in all three programs.

Just a comment to Thomas Poulsen.
"iwconfig ra0 power off" does not turn off your device. It turns off
power management for your device. Use this command instead "iwconfig ra0
txpower off" to turn stop the device from transmitting/receiving.
