Ive got back to the karmic kernel that was left over from my upgrade.
The problem still persists. Ive run 'ping -i 1 192.168.0.1' and found it
drops for ~40 seconds when it does drop. The wifi point hasnt changed in
the last 6 hours since upgrading and the laptop is still sitting in the
same place.
This also effects me. Online gaming is now impossible. Worked perfect in
Karmic.

I can safely say there is no rtl8180 driver at all.
So I guess its been resolved in a crude and sad way. Still going to

Previously there was a work around to use a -386 flavored kernel but
that doesnt seem to help anymore. Using 'nosmp' does not help either.

This looks like a fun bug to add my 2 cents too. This is a bug that
really aught to be fixed. ALOT of things need mplayer/mencoder to
function properly and having this not working is simply a showstopper
for me.

The SMP portion of code is effecting the r818x driver.
The bug happens when using the -generic and even -lowlatency kernel. I
was able to use the -lowlatency kernel and the -generic kernel in the
Beta without issue. Current solution is simply using the -386 kernel, as

Confirmed. System locks up hard when sending large amounts of data.
Bittorrent, http server and sending pictures via MSN all lockup the
system. Has anyone tried an updated kernel.org+ubuntu patched kernel? I
really need my http server back up and running.
