I am suffering the same symptoms as woollypigs. Slow menu response, slow
rendering. Ubuntu 13.10 fully updated with GIMP 2.86.

I have purged the PPA https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers
using ppa-purge and am currently running the upgrade to 12.04.
I will report success or failure on completion (some hours due to slow ADSL
line).

I have run apt-get install -f a number of times but still get the messag
I also have the problem in both Calc & Writer. I cannot open documents saved
with passwords under previous versions of LibreOffice, nor save new documents
with passwords.
All passwords are confirmed correct & the old documents can be opened normally
in OpenOffice 3.2.

Kaze: Apologies for the ignorance, but I had the same bug and downloaded the
20081126.tar.gz
Running kompozer from the extracted directory seemed FAR more stable but did
freeze after approximately 20 minutes (compared to 1 minute previously).
Where should I install the files to match your setup?
Richard, did you remove compiz-core too? I have exactly the same
graphics card as you integrated into a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo P4. apt-
get remove compiz and apt-get remove compiz-core solved the problem for
me. I miss compiz, but at least I can use my computer.

Perhaps another input/clue to this issue...
I got full output to a projector attached to the VGA Out port while the laptop
screen was black. Under Hardy, I would have to use i810switch to get VGA
Output to the projector.
I also have two entries in the Kubuntu Display Manager viz. VGA and LVDS,
Identical problem on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo P4 with integrated Intel 82845GL
Graphics Card.
After Intrepid installation from Alternate CD, no display (Black Screen) until
I disabled compiz (recommended somewhere in the forum). New kernel
2.6.27-7-generic broke situation again.
