I am still seeing this bug, having upgraded properly.
Can't access https sites with improper certificates when german
localization is activated (in firefox add-ons->languages).

I still couldn't find out why udev was missing from the initramfs. Re-
creating the initramfs with update-initramfs -c (instead of -u) fixed
it, and I cannot reproduce the described behaviour.

I just found out that the -i386 initramfs does not contain /lib/udev,
and that is almost certainly my problem (I use a root=UUID=... bootarg,
and the initramfs needs /lib/udev/vol_id to figure out which device to
let /dev/root point to).

I started having such a problem today, notably gdmgreeter is hanging
with 100% cpu usage.
An easy workaround was moving /usr/lib/gdm/gdmgreeter out of the way and
restarting gdm with
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
