I did a server install with Ubuntu 7.10 (i386) server edition a few days
ago and the user thomas created in the install process is in the
following groups:
# grep thomas /etc/group

cdrom:x:24:thomas
floppy:x:25:thomas
audio:x:29:thomas
dip:x:30:thomas
video:x:44:
Some questions, because I cannot reproduce such a bug with Ubuntu 7.10
and all updates (tried several times).
1. Which Ubuntu/Firefox versions do you run?
2. Any extensions/addons installed? Did you try to disable them all if you have
some?
3. You say you cannot type in the address bar or any oth
1. Are there also symlinks beginning with the letter S? What makes you sure,
that postgresql is not being started after boot?
2. Did you use remove with --purge and have you installed postgresql again?
To your Question: After installing postgresql the database should
automatically get initialized
I cannot confirm this bug, so more informations are needed.

Is there a symlink in the default runlevel?

Have you also tried to remove and purge all postgresql packages and to
install it again?
# apt-get remove --purge libpq5 postgresql postgresql-8.2 postgresql-client-8.2
postgresql-client-common postgresql-common postgresq
I am from germany and for me this mirror works fine as tested right now.
It's also up to date.

After going through all your described steps my rhythmbox on Ubuntu 7.10
does not crash. Do you have a lot artists/songs in your list or only a
few or perhaps songs containing any special characters?

Unfortunately I have no Ubuntu x64 installation at this momen

related configuration files and I think databases too will be deleted.

I can confirm this, too. It's a Fujitsu-Siemens notebook with synaptics
touchpad. After going back from suspend mode the touchpad doesn't work
anymore. An external mouse does work.

I can confirm this. I was using the Ubuntu 6.10 Beta 1 alternate
installation and I wanted to format the /-filesystem with xfs, but it
failed with the error message above.
