Never mind. Despite the dirty shutdown, a subsequent post-installation
update resolved the problem.

Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won
Has it been confirmed that only Samsung SSD are affected? I'm
experiencing the same problem on a Gigabyte Brix (GB-BXBT-1900) running
on a Toshiba OCZ TR150 (120gb). Just installed Lubuntu 16.04 LTS and
stumbled on this bug.

I've observed that the multiple login screen randomly switch to
different resolutions. No particular pattern to it, just as there
appears to be no particular pattern to the number of time one is forced
to log in.
