problem. I've tried installing new drivers or new kernels. PC is only usable
via Ctrl+Alt+F2. I definitely switched to debian stable since one week. I
realized with this bug that stability and ability to work is more impor
@#108, I've tried to follow instructions in #99, that is adding
ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates. Only one package was updated :
xserver-xorg-video-intel. Still freezing.
I also tried to install fglrx that are proprietary drivers. Still freezing,
both with kernel 3.2.0.24 and kernel 3.3.6.
Now system
I've installed the 3.3.6 kernel, but still get the freeze as soon as I've been
logged in.
With keyboard, I can only do Ctrl+Alt+F2
With mouse, I can only move (no click)
I've switch to other linux distribution to be able to read my
emails/browse/etc...

I have tested (with virtualbox) in Ubuntu 11.04.
I tested successfully that sound was working (independently from LibreOffice).
But sound still does not work with pps and Impress.

I am using ubuntu 10.10 maverick 64-bit, and I have the same problem.
I've tried today to "apt-get purge openoffice*", and then install
libreoffice from ppa. The sound still does not work.

I confirm this bug on Karmic Koala, when I click on "report a bug" inside a KDE
application, nothing happens.
I installed apport-kde, and problem was fixed for digiKam and K3b.
On KDE application skrooge, something is launched, but I got the french
message "Impossible de déterminer le nom du paqu
Can you imagine a message application (for example an email application)
that do not migrate the history of your old messages ? No, I can not
imagine that. How can Ubuntu has accepted this? For me, this is a
showstopper. I uninstalled empathy and I've moved back to pidgin.

The side effect is that in Emacs Meta key is know key, and is no
more usable in Emacs.

I am sorry, but I am unable to confirm that patch provided by Rolf works.
But I am able to confirm that everything works correctly if compiled from

In reply to EduardoRomero, the following just work for me. It assigns "e" to nautilus.
I admit that I never had success in doing this through GUI of
System/Preferences/Keyboard shortcuts that try to assign "Super L" key
unsuccessfully.
