Actually, I had a problem with my graphics card, and had to buy a new
one. This time I bought an nvdia card, and I no longer have the compaz
problem. Nothing I can say except that I still think that the "fix"
that ubuntu made was entirely the wrong thing thing to do.

Thought that you would be interested to know that my setup works perfect
in Kubuntu (Just installed next to GNOME). Compiz (and their
compositor) started with no hitches on my dual-monitor setup. Go
figure... Perhaps their guys can tell you how they solved the problem.

Bug 428769 is suppose to fix compiz so that it can run on a 2048x1152
monitor. People had no problem running lucid on this size monitor if

I'm a little confused. My 2048x 768 setup has worked in Ubuntu for at
least the last couple of years, and worked until the Lucid - Beta 2
updates. The drivers being used now is the same driver that was used
before the Beta 2 release. Please explain further. This refusal to fix
makes no sense to

I have had the same exact problem, and have also found that using
"gksudo dbus-launch ..." works, while kdesu, kdesudo, and gksu
(with or without dbus-lauch) do not.

I, also, am using the beta and I a still having udev error messages.
can not read '/etc/udev/rules.d/z80_user.rules'
z80_user.rules is a symlink to /etc/udev/user.rules which is empty.
