I just checked back through my backup logs and the VM was backing up
without error prior to following the technet instructions. I've attached
a grab of the status windows for both jobs.

I had been able to carry out backups on the VM prior to installing the
daemons but I was not able to produce full file indexes and my Hyper-V
monitoring software would complain about integration services not being
enabled.

I am experiencing this same issue when backing up a 14.04 LTS Gen 1 VM
using Veeam. The error seems to occur when the VSS snapshots are being
taken. The error did not occur until I had followed Microsoft's
instructions on packages to install for Ubuntu

I've found that by running 'rm -rf .*' in my home directory and
rebooting that the problem has gone away.
Mine's a non-essential box though, so I wouldn't recommend a blanket
delete like that to everyone.

Using irqpoll I can get the system to boot every time, is there no way

I too have had many issues running Ubuntu since Feisty on an Abit IB9
motherboard, receiving errors such as above.
I tried to install Hardy via Wubi and also received the same error. I
decided to try the alternate cd to see if I would have any luck there.
Setup:
Abit IB9
