Wait, after I updated my system, the reader stopped working. It only

Confirming as well.
I just did a fresh install of Hardy from an a CD release with a 2.6.24-16
kernel.
Wireless (ipw2200) works flawlessly but an upgrade to 2.6.24-21 did break my
setup.
