Funny you should ask..
I started the Kubuntu machine I recently upgraded without removing
kubuntu-settings-desktop on Sunday and it had the login screen "lockup"
described by others. I just typed in the password, despite there being no
flashing cursor, and it logged on but it wasn't ideal. T
I think you will find the bug is fixed. Since I had the first issue I have
upgraded two Kubuntu machines to 24.04 and two Ubuntu servers with KDE Plasma
Desktops.
- The first Kubuntu machine initially had boot issues. I did an internet search
(I had never had to fix a failed boot before), got to

I have eliminated any third party repos as best I could, though I an not
certain I used ppa-purge properly. To try to make sure I deleted the
repos in the sourcesd.list gui. I rebooted between each attempt.
