Not mentioned here yet: systemd-resolved is much less flexible than
resolvconf.
With resolvconf, I can specify an interface order.
With resolvconf, I can specify custom head/tail parts, allowing me to insert
custom options.
Please, give us back our resolvconf.

The new shim works for me.
I presume comment #1 is asking me to test the *signed* shim from
groovy package shim-signed, since the unsigned shim will not boot
in Secure Boot mode, the interesting case to test.
Thus, I tested shimx64.efi.signed from groovy's shim-signed package,

Public bug reported:
I recently swapped out my WUXGA monitor for a much bigger 4K monitor.
Most unexpectedly, I found that this prevented my workstation from booting.
When I start up, I see the power-on splash screen from the workstation

I now believe this problem to be hardware flakiness, since it happens only when
my Sony VAIO Pro 13 has been playing movies for a few hours, and I have
reproduced it with the -43 kernel, too.
If nobody else sees this, we can close this bug report.

I haven't seen any activity on this bug, hence this nudge.
This is a regression from the previous Ubuntu release, 13.10, and the
report includes a simple, one-line patch. I hope you will see fit to
apply it before the next release.

Accessing the file ~/.sudo_as_admin_successful can cause sudo to fail

Before running the requested command, sudo (1.7.2p1-1ubuntu5.2)

I'm seeing the same thing in 10.04.
The problem is the profile in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd3, which
doesn't allow reading any files in /etc/bind.
Could we have a one-file exception added to this profile, please, to share a
key between bind and dhcpd?

I had the same symptoms as this bug when I upgraded to Karmic: my
system would appear to boot ok, but none of the TCP-based servers
would have been started.
After some investigation, I have two suggestions, one for people
trying to debug this problem, the other for the sysv-rc package
maintainers.
Package postfix (versions 2.5.1 through 2.6.5 at least) uses "hostname
--fqdn" in its postinst script.
