I have tried several kernels, all with the same performance issues. It
is not a CPU issue, setting the frequency makes no difference at all.
In the end, the 2.6.31-11-rt kernel works like a charm. Compiz is
incredibly fast.

This bug is clearly wrong. Vinagre is a VNC client only.
tsclient is able to connect (via external applications) to VNC, RDP and
RDPv5, though it seems to be better suited to RDP (Remote Desktop)
connections.
If anything, Vinagre is the redundant one.
