Public bug reported:
Default version of kmail from Kubuntu 15.10 (15.08.2-0ubuntu1) will not
load external references (aka, HTML images), even when the setting to
load images is turned on.
What I've tried:
1) Re-install Kubuntu 15.10
2) Login with an empty config
3) Login with a test user

After more research, this now works for me if I enable what application
to use to open HTML links in the system settings. However, there is a
related bug, in that external images won't load at all within Kmail.

This also affects me, under the exact same system. Also, I don't know
if it's related, but kmail crashes on any emails containing an
attachment.

The same problem continues to exist in Feisty (7.04) with
2.6.20-16-generic, which still uses libusb-0.1.4
While I can only verify it for my system, I followed the directions at
http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-artec_eplus48u.5.html, copying the
firmware file over from the cd (the WinXP file),
