On my Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768-59G) the Fn+F7 isn't working. Also, when
manually configuring the external monitor using the nVidia control

I've downloaded the Alpha 4 now. I still need the "hpet=disable" switch
in order to boot of the live CD (composite isn't working either, btw).
When I leave that option out, the screen blanks upon boot, I see a
blinking cursor, but it is stuck.

Dell Optiplex 320 won't boot from live CD Gutsy (
Hi Leann,
I am in the process of downloading the Intrepid Alpha 3. I just wanted
to report on the status in Hardy as experienced by me. I am using Grub2
to boot, as Grub will generally fail; at least I could not get it to
work, not matter what I did.
I am currently appending "hpet=disable pnpbios

Ubuntu Gutsy: using
/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/bt8xx/bttv.ko as
shipped with the distribution, I get the following error sooner or later

Using the boot option 'acpi=off' helped me boot the latest gutsy kernel
(2.6.22-14-generic). However the kernel also complains about the PnP
BIOS and suggests adding 'pnpbios=off', which makes the message
disappear. 'hpet=disable' doesn't have any effect on my computer.

Sorry for not answering sooner. My solution to this problem was to
reformat/partition the drive under windows.

It is strange to not see changes in the partition table of the usb

My PC is also not booting using the latest kernel (2.6.22-14-generic) on
my Optiplex 320. Grub v1 does apparently not work either, had to install
Grub2. Please tell me how I can help to fix this problem as this is a
new setup and I can re-install or tweak it in case you want me to.

Trying if VLC would play an ISO Archive (is actually a DVD), it crashed.
If this is not considered a bug, consider it a feature request. VLC
should be able to play a DVD even though it is not actually mounted but

John,
unfortunately, this didn't do it. I enabled the address translation and did
everything else this guide suggested. I can, however, burn using Brasero (which
in turn uses the libburn2 library), so I guess this might have something to do
with cdrskin.
