I've removed the reference to the duplicate bug as it doesn't exist
anymore.
The issue is affecting my system as well.
I have an HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module (Sierra MC8775).
Since 13.04 the modem-manager cannot start anymore.
NetworkManager is 0.9.8.0 whilst modemmanager is 0.6.0.0

Using the new package I'm now able to use conduits I need. However I've
enabled all of them just for the sake of test and it seems that the
"malconduit1" still have the famous: gpilotd-WARNING **: Unknown
conduit, name="malconduit1"
If I remember well that is used for AvantGo sync...

Hello,
I was able to build the packages. Now the following conduits are not
working:
gpexpense1
malconduit1
gpmemo1
gpsendmail1
gptime1
For all of them the error is: (gpilotd:30597): gpilotd-WARNING **:
unable to g_module_open (/usr/lib/gnome-
pilot/conduits/libtime_conduit.so), reason libgpilot
After my upgrade to 10.10 I have the "Unknown Conduit" in:
e_address_conduit
e_calendar_conduit
e_memo_conduit
e_todo_conduit
I'm attaching gpilotd's terminal output here.

New information after my update to Lucid. It looks like that with Bluez
v4.x there is no way to share my internet connection with my phone. No
hcdi.conf, I can't see /etc/default/bluetooth, it seems that without the
Bluez 3.x package installed there is no way.
However I'm posting here the changes

Tested send-files and had the same (slow) results.
Tested on Karmic and Lucid.
Average speed (taken from the GUI) is around 21/22kb

What solved the issue for me has been:
1. Purge policykit (please note that this will remove ubuntu-desktop as well)
from Synaptics
2. As Ubuntu-desktop has been removed I had to manually reconnect to the LAN
(the network manager applet has been removed as well)
3. Reinstall ubuntu-desktop
