Empathy does have "send and receive messages" under its name after I
close it. However, although I am more than willing to assist you in
troubleshooting this, I have to point out that this bug report is not
about Empathy at all. The problem is with Pidgin and how indicator-
applet-session keeps IM

I spoke somewhat too soon. This has nothing to do with indicator-

Sorry, I don't have that problem. Changing the status through indicator-
session does not open up Empathy. My original problem still stands,
though.

Binary package hint: indicator-applet
After Pidgin has been running for some amount of time, exiting the

This leaves the user signed in and showing as available without any

What's the status on this bug? I see that a fix has been committed, but
as for right now it's still not working and it's a pretty annoying bug.
I can understand that the developers probably have bigger concerns right
now, but I'm just wondering.

I have the same problem as the bug report, but the above package doesn't
seem to fix it. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a few times now
with no luck. It still doesn't notify on new conversations, only
messages within the conversations.
