Well this is disappointing, I don't have much hope this gets moved into
production, sigh.

It is fixed, I posted the how to in the bug report. How does it get moved
into production so it says fixed?

The fix for this issue is to change the keyboard scan codes in the asus-
keyboard-backlight-down and asus-keyboard-backlight-up scripts located
at /etc/acpi/events/ from:
event=hotkey ATKD 00c5
event=hotkey ATKD 00c4
To:
event=hotkey ATK0100:00 00c5
event=hotkey ATK0100:00 00c4
I've been doing some investigation and have discovered the following.
If I perform these commands the back-light changes:
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness
echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness
echo 2 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_ba
Could not complete kernel testing since the video card driver didn't like the
new kernel.
The resolution was incorrect.
I am a nub and didn't know how to correct.
Going back to old kernel fixed the problem.

The 4-way scroll is suppose to scroll the contents of a window. It
looks like a D-pad under the touchpad and is on some laptops. I suspect
it is part of the Synaptics touchpad? I know that setting the above

Something I do not understanding and would appreciate some
enlightenment. Why is work continuing on Edgy and now Feisty when the
bugs with Dapper Drake are still not addressed/fixed?
Also, when will Gnome be updated on Dapper or am I now responsible for
my own maintenance of Dapper? I want to in

Hibernate does shutdown the laptop, on restart it boots up normally.
What else can be done to make this work?

the developers working on the next release (Edgy) if Dapper still has
