I experienced this problem consistently up until yesterday when I
installed the new beta 180.06 nvidia driver. It is now completely gone
in my environment (Dell laptop with Quadro FX 1600M).

You can compile it without the KDE "support", which basically means no
GUI at all.
./configure --with-kde-support=no
works in intrepid, and the binary can be used to generate reports. My
vote is still on this bug though, since the GUI is very nice.
