Can you capture a packet trace on the wireless interface while
wpasupplicant is trying to authenticate? You'll need to run wireshark as
root.

For me everything was fine running Ubuntu 11.10, and upgrading to
12.04rc2 I suddenly see this failure. I suspect openssl, since that is
the code wpa_supplicant uses to generate the TLS authentication
messages. These messages are going out OK, but the RADIUS server does
not like the contents.

we use Steel Belted radius here. The RADIUS server is rejecting the
Client Hello message. This comes from openssl.
