Looking through the ath9k driver changes, I have a feeling that this
problem is related to the driver defaulting to powersave mode for chips
where the driver isn't stable with powersave mode enabled. A potential
workaround is:
sudo modprobe -r ath9k
sudo modprobe ath9k
sudo iwconfig wlan0 power o

Public bug reported:
This card occasionally times out or drops connection. With the current
lucid kernel, I got this kernel warning shortly after a timeout. I
don't think I can directly reproduce this problem but, I can certainly
provide more information the next time it happens if needed.

The problem is that Windows doesn't "lock" media. For a read-only
filesystem, like a CD, that's fine. The link I posted above shows how
to auto-unmount removed media but, it would need to modified to only do
that for read-only media.

It's possible to use the dev.cdrom.lock=0 setting, a udev rule and
script to make this work correctly. The solution is described on the
Arch wikis here and seems to work fine on my XPS M1330:

Using Kubuntu 9.04, many websites do not display favicons in konqueror.
The problem appears to be related to konqueror improperly using

This bug has not been fixed as per the original bug report. FF3 still
causes sqlite to fsync after every page load which makes suspending
disks impossible. This is tested with FF3 updated to today with

I can confirm this after moving to 8.04 a few days ago. I posted on the
Hardy messages boards but, I'll simply paste the content of that post
here because it properly explains what I've seen and how I've tried to
fix it. The original post can be found at

I can verify this on 7.04 as well. It's been some time since I've tried
to watch something with external subtitles but, I have dozens of videos
that have external subtitles in .srt format (all Spanish with ISO-8859-1
encoding) and, with totem-gstreamer in 7.04, none of them play. In
