@h23 if you are seeing the same behaviour in the terminal the Nautilus is
not the problem. Your USB is write protected or your computer is picking it
up like that for some reason.
You can insert the USB Stick and then run:
dmesg | tail
To see the system log. There you can see if the write protec
Confirmed in xubuntu 16.04 xenial. With Toshiba Satellite L505-SP6984R
which has an Intel Video Card: GMA 4500M. I can confirm that switching
virtual consoles do solve the problem.
It happens when suspending the system or just locking the screen.

The files I mentioned in this bug had two ID3 tag frames (I didn't know
that Mp3 files could have more than one ID3 tag frame) and what happened

It doesn't for me, i have a sftp bookmark to my company's ubuntu server
and when I click it from the dash it does nothing unless it is already
mounted, in that case it opens just fine.

This bug is still present in 11.04 Final but there is something I have
to make clear here. For me at least it only happens when the sftp
bookmark is not mounted, once you mount it (accessing it through
Nautilus itself for example) you can open it from the Dash.

I have the exact same issue only that when I come back from the tty the
system freezes almost totally only the music keeps playing and if try to
do CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE the whole system freezes and I have to use the
reset button on my PC to forcibly reboot my computer.

The same happens to me. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 x64 and Empathy 2.32.0.
I set the picture and I click the close button, the picture is not saved
if I open a conversation window or open the Personal Information window
again the picture is just gone. It didn't happened to me on Ubuntu
