I noticed that you removed the 'latest-bios-1.10' tag again - can you explain
why?
The Fujitsu support site lists 1.10 as the latest BIOS available for my model
LH532 (UMA) - Serial No. DQBAxx
There are some updates to the other model LH532/G22 and all the
accompanying docs war
Christopher, system is not bootable any longer, so I cannot run those commands
nor update BIOS if one was available.
In any case, BIOS being the latest, there's nothing to add to the report.

Apologize for the delay..
The efivars error exists even when I have 'efibootmgr' running ok. There was an
update that locked out my firmware again. efibootmgr returns nothing (I guess
because the boot entry/order setting in NVRAM has been erased and is empty). I
created a new entry for refind an
Christopher, I do not have the card anymore to perform the tests. It was in a
10-year old desktop that I sold off as junk ;-)
Not sure how to help; if no one else responds, I guess, the bug can be written
off. The card is probably too old now and may not be in use.

Ok.
The dmesg output (searching for EFI) is attached. The following is something I
see in the dmesg output.

For some reason, the 'efibootmgr' command doesn't show any output. It
simply returns; I even tried running the Termi

I managed to restore the "Boot via CD/DVD" option by shorting the said
CL1 and CL2 pins. However this did not restore my BIOS/UEFI firmware
access. I was just able to use the 'Boot via CD/DVD' and 'Boot via USB

Yes, that has been my guess as well. I kept the battery but did not
switch the system on. Shall do it the next time I try it.
I looked for the CMOS battery too but I assume Fujitsu soldered it and hid it
away. Also the CL1 CL2 pins weren't under the RAM area in my laptop, they were
adjacent to i
pen to
deleting everything and starting again but I am not sure how to achieve
that since I cannot boot from LiveCD or any other OS. Can I use GParted
to delete the EFI partition? Would I get back to BIOS then?
I hope I do not end up with a dead system - can't reinstall, can't

I was able to boot into the mainline 3.5.0-999 kernel when I tried again
