since I changed jobs a year ago.

Debian's Ubuntu ships with a patch that removes the card styles shipped
with gnome-hearts and loads the Aisleriot cards instead, depending on a
debian-specific gnome-cards-data package. Ubuntu packages Gnome (and
gnome-games) from source and not from Debian. That means that the
Aisleriot cards are
I'll elaborate a bit. gnome-hearts upstream carries it's own cards
graphics in /usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-hearts/cards/. For debian this was
changed. gnome-games-data was split in gnome-games-data and gnome-cards-
data and gnome-hearts depends on gnome-cards-data. These cards are
located in /usr/shar
Well, that's easy. I have it installed on three Edgy systems for quite a

Hello K. Deniz Ogut,
You should read a bit more on how Synaptic works. Synaptic does not show
just all the packages in the Edgy repository but also all the packages
that you have installed manually -- no matter where they came from. So,

I'm the upstream author who also wrote the 01_gnome_cards_data patch.
That patch was made because Debian split gnome-games-extra-data into
extra data and cards-data. Because Edgy doesn't have the gnome-cards-
data package, I propose you simply drop the patch alltogether. This is

Hearts crashes on startup
https://launchpad.net/
The bug is caused by the 01_gnome_cards_data.patch in debian/patches --
a patch that Ubuntu shouldn't be using anyway since it doesn't have
gnome-cards-data to start with.

It doesn't look like the same bug to me. This bug is about a crash
because the card style or background image specified in ~/.gnome-

add a style to the hashmap. Please check if the two files mentioned in
