complete freezes but only the browser, this problem seems to be solved.

starting 20 tabs and it never caused a system freeze.
Regarding q2, yes adblock plus and ip-domain-flag, but adblock is turned off
anyway on this specific profile with 20 tabs open on start.

thanks for taking the time.
In the meantime I've switched to chromium and I'm happy with it.
Currently using 16.04.4 LTS and just opened firefox 60.0.2 (64-Bit) with 20
Tabs.
Well, it is doing much better, at least the computer is still usable, but it
needs to be tested at least one day
Issue solved.
Solution:
Open Unity-plugin in CCSM.
Switch from no blur to active blur: the dash is clear - no broken graphics.
Move color from transparent up to 50 percent: all symbols in dash and launcher
appear.

I've just received a kernel update and graphics look a bit better.
But as one can see in the unity dash there is the login item upside down in the

Thanks for the reply, icon theme is awoken, but that doesn't matter I've
tested others and nothing changed. Actually the issues only ocur with
Unity parts, for example also the logout, shutdown dialogs are puzzled
black and white. But Nautilus and other applications are looking fine.

Just had two complete freezes with an updated kernel linux-
image-4.8.0-56-generic 4.8.0-56.61~16.04.1 amd64. Switch to console and
REISUB didn't work thus hard shutdown. I've booted with 4.8.0

No, it's not overheated, I have conky running in autostart which shows
me the output of sensors and cpu's, mainboard are between 32-48°.

I still purge older kernel manually via terminal since they don't get removed

The memory usage since 46 firefox is outrages again. Previous 44, 45 were ok.
It slows down the computer so much, that other work is almost impossible to do,

The video list is now instantly displayed after opening totem, maybe it was the
cache, the computer wasn't in use for a while.
The Arte website is not slow, I'm able to watch movies flawless via firefox.

There're two profiles, running as independent process. One of them with usually
40 tabs open starts with mem usage of about 32-38 % and stays in this range.
Since the last update it leaks slowly over time to more then 60% and slows in
fact the system. (screenshot from conky)
Hi Christopher, although I know to manage the status, I didn't want to close it
due to other users affected.

video on youtube, results in "an error occurred .. try it later".
Empty the cache and possibly cookies, change the default to a user defined UA
string, (example screenshot), result: videos start

Standard cursor theme is 'DMZ-White'.

Confirmation, on an upgraded 12.04 to 14.04 is no delay from boot
process to unity-greeter and loaded desktop background after login. Only
unity itself with launcher and panel takes a while to load.
