After installing Shutter and configuring to capture Print and Print
via Preferences, gnome-screenshot is still intercepting those keys for
taking screenshots. As noted in the Shutter Preferences dialog, Gnome
Compatibility is enabled.

With xsane the experience has been even worse, causing the scanner
itself to hang indefinitely and requiring me to restart the
printer/scanner itself. This, too was a bit random, and also required a
forcible quitting of the program.

For me the fix is also working, however I've noticed something peculiar
that seems to be related to the issues with Ctrl-Alt-KP_4 and Ctrl-Alt-

the "corner" keys, Ctrl-Alt-KP_(1|3|7|9) no longer resize the window

I cannot reproduce this every time, but most of the time when I initiate
a scan from Simple Scan, it makes the "waiting" image. The scanner - HP
OfficeJet 6500A - then finishes scanning and reports scan finished
successfully on its own display. After that, the Simple Scan GU
Upon following the instructions, I saw that the permissions for item
(Check whether the device files for the printer get created and the
ownerships ("root lp") and permissions (non-HP: "crw-rw-r--", HP: "crw-
rw-r--+") correctly set) were the non-HP values, though it is an HP
printer.
