The problem happened again this morning.
Am now running the kernel 2.6.38-11-generic #50-Ubuntu
This time the screen would go black when I put the mouse over the
launcher, but if I moved the mouse away while screen was black
everything would recover ok. However as soon as I put the mouse over the

happen at boot time.
It seems to have something to do with the launcher, when I move the
mouse over and icon on the the launcher occasionally the screen goes
blank for 30 seconds, then comes back, screen updates, then goes blan
