I also did a fresh install of Karmic. After installation I added the
9.10 CD to my software sources and installed the bcmwl-kernel-source
package via Synaptic, which made my wireless network activatable.
I had to make symbolic links manually to fit the requirement of /cdrom
as the path to the 9.10

I have the same issue with the final 9.10 CD. I ran the Live session
from the CD and installed the bcmwl-kernel-source package. The Hardware
wizard then said I needed to reboot, which I didn't. Instead I just
selected the wireless network I wanted to use in the nm-applet and

I tested the BIOS from Acer and got 1.66GHz but no power saving, as I
expected after comments here. I replied with a compliment, asking for
another attempt with focus on _both_ performance _and_ power saving. I
also asked why we can't just get a BIOS with tables saying we have four
speed steps.

I can confirm that the kernel is getting the wrong CPU speed from the
BIOS ACPI tables. Booting with acpi=off gives me 1.66 MHz (full speed)
but no frequency scaling (off course, since acpi is disabled).

pam_ecryptfs module being reenabled in my common_auth. Then I removed

The modem depends on usb_modeswitch
(http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/), which I load using udev
rules (attached).
To connect with the modem, I have to use HSOconnect
(http://www.pharscape.org/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,68
I have Telenor Mobile Broadband in Norway. My USB adapter identify as
0af0:6971 Option.
I can't get network-manager to recognize this as a modem even if I am
able to load the usbserial module with it.
I am able to connect using HSOConnect, though. The problem with this
approach is that HSOConnect
The latest update fixed this problem.

I just upgraded to 8.04 and now Tomboy stopped working.

name of that plugin I assume now that the answer to your question is:
yes, I do use the cc-license-viewer plugin provided by Ubuntu.
