Quite frankly, Canonical are being rather pig-headed about this one. Just
install the Linaro compilers from here and you are good to go:

Chemicalfan,
I would recommend try Mint 17 which comes out end of May.
Mint 16 will get unsupported by July 2014.

The output of "diff neither i386" and "diff neither arm" contain no overlaps.
Do you mind reassessing this?

Problem is on Ubuntu 14.04. Earlier versions of Ubuntu don't seem to
have this issue and the two packages can happily coexist.
When I run e.g.,
apt-get install gcc-multilib, it uninstalls the ARM compilers.

Hi Edgar,
maybe that installation uses an older kernel? Did you do the same updates an
all machines?

EdgarPE,
try to find out if either:
- the iOS 7 device was coupled with the specific hardware before ugrading
to iOS 7
or
- the Ubuntu 12.04 installation is not yet updated to a newer kernel (or
upgraded to a newer kernel after coupling with the iOS 7 device for the
first time)

I'm using Linux Mint and get this bug on Mint 16 (based on Ubuntu 13.10), but
not on Mint 15 (based on Ubuntu 13.04). Whereas Ubuntu itself shows the bug in
both versions.
So that may relates to either different kernel versions (Mint does not make the
same kernel updates as Ubuntu), or to diffe

After manually installing nVidia display driver 290.10 the problem

Unfortunately, kernel 3.1 panicked as well yesterday. Today I installed
kernel 2.6.37 instead. Besides not panicking, that kernel has the
advantage of consuming less power. Oneiric seems stable now and battery
power on the Asus Eee-PC 1000H lasts 5 hours instead of 3 (with kernels
3 and 3.1).

I had the same issue on my Asus Eee-PC 1000H. It panicked several times
as soon as I had begun using Ubuntu 11.10. I followed the advice from
Joseph Salisbury and installed kernel 3.1. Since then (that means since
yesterday) no more panic occured.

The bug is still there in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. I installed the new
release a few days ago and experienced the same problems with the nVidia
chipset/driver. The suggested solution (

I experienced a similar bug which probably has the same cause. After booting
and logging in the wallpaper did not show up. The background remained black.
When I tried to open the wallpaper file in image viewer I received the error
