will not get backported to jammy LTS for sure, especially considering
that fixing this bug did in fact introduce a regression, something that
Ubuntu tries very hard to avoid for LTS.

To give a use-case. I, like many others, have started to use
thinclients as powerful-enough home/LAN servers. One such "beast" is an
Igel with 2GB of flash storage. That would be plenty if not for the
linux-firmware choice that Ubuntu makes. Sure, I can work around it,
but why do I have to?

It is of course a configuration issue. That was never in doubt. Too
bad you can't see that "http://HTTPS/"; is of course not valid.
The only question there was is whether on top of the configuration issue
there was anything else.
