I am using 64 bit 12.10 Precise. Previously (64 bit 12.04) I had a similar problem which was resolved (unsure how but I suspect through regular s/w updates). The problem has reemerged and is particularly bad when using PDF files created with a scanner. The current problem results in my printer (
