Thanks to #100 I got GDM working again.
I just upgraded to nvidia-378 and re-installed xserver-xorg-legacy and
finally got GDM working again.
I'll keep lightdm installed just in case it all stops working again.
I don't know/remember if this happend while I was fiddling around
getting GDM to work
Temporary workaround is installing lightdm to get a logon screen and
switch back to gdm3 when this bug is fixed.

sudo apt install lightdm
sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
Then choose lightdm. Now you can use

Same problem here.
The short-cuts stop working after resuming from standby AND logging in to TTY2.
When switching to TTY7 the short-cuts work in the login screen, but after
logging in they don't work any more.
When this happens, shutdown/restart/logging out takes ages as well.

Also on my asus zenbook my brightness keys fn+f5 and fn+f6 are the only
fn keys working. They still change the brightness bus there is no pop-up
icon showing the brightness level. This does appear before the first
system standby.
