exhibiting a problem reported in older versions. When clicking on

I am also seeing this behavior with a logitech HD Webcam C310. I am
running ubuntu 12.10 and am receiving the same initialization failed
error. As soon as I unplugged my webcam I regained the ability to use my
speakers, and that ability remained even after plugging the webcam back
in.

When I start the gvim application under KDE, the screen turns black, and
only the mouse pomter is visivble.
To resolve the issue, I have to ssh in, and "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm

I do not see this problem if fsck runs at boot time. This leads me to
believe that this is a timing problem at boot time. I'm aware that
