I attempted to make the bug public but was shot down for it. The bug was
then made private again. Maybe someone will come along and make it public at
some point in the future.

I have managed to make Firefox open by removing the

firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()
Apport never asks me to submit a report. It never appears or prompts
me in any way when Firefox crashes. Please tell me if I'm doing
something wrong here:

r...@rob-desktop:~$ firefox -ProfileM
After using the new profile for a few minutes, it appears the problem
was not due to my previous profile. The crash is caused when visiting
certain websites (GMail among them, for example). As I had GMail open in
a tab when I started Firefox, this caused the crash on start-up.

The package and version I found the bug in: amarok -
2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 (amd64)
The release of Kubuntu I'm using: Kubuntu 9.04
What I expected to happen: Amarok would play my music, and rescan my collection
periodically for new content.
I can confirm this on 9.04 installed from scratch (rather than updated).
The first few times I have installed updates it has worked fine. This
time it reported the error mentioned above. It also seems to have
applied the updates, or is lying about there being none available
afterwards.

I tried again with the same CD and it booted, must have been a one-off.
Anyway, the problem is not apparent in Jaunty. All text is correctly
sized and looks fine.
If you still need the log from Jaunty then let me know.

I tried to see if the problem still exists with Jaunty. Unfortunately it
spewed out a whole load of errors while booting, so I couldn't get
anywhere with that. However, I have got the Xorg.0.log file from Hardy

I just downloaded the KDE4 release candidate of Kubuntu Hardy, and
loaded up the live CD. I was greeted with massively oversized text
literally everywhere! That made the whole thing unusable, as it makes
every menu impossible to navigate.
Obviously this is a bit of a shock to
