I'm not sure when it started but I just recently noticed it. Im using a
laptop hooked up monitor using VGA with the laptop monitor disabled.

I've seen this under regular Ubuntu . I haven't made any changes to
fonts or themes. Yes it does occur all the time but appears differently
for some letters. For example, an 'm' or a 'p' have lblur lines the same
height as the letters but a 'g' or 'o' only has a line a few pixels
high, etc

But I've found that if you double left click than enter workplace
switcher then left click the overlay still appears.

I've been having the same problem but I've discovered a simple (but
annoying) workaround:
After using workplace switcher just double click the windows menu bar
(which would maximise or restore it). Double click it again to change it
back to it's original state. After that, moving your mouse to any
