Tried adding at F6 bootup "noapic", this results in system hang with
blank screen after splash.
This is followed several long minutes later by this message "/bin/sh:
cant access tty; job control turned off (initrramfs)

Subsequent efforts to boot from live dvd result in :
[ number ] Buffer I/O error on device hdc
Its a repeated error followed by lots of other errors.
Ubuntu then loads after about 4 minutes.

Im trying to install Ubuntu 64 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Laptop - uses
AMD Mobile Athlon and ATI Radeon Xpress 200m Graphics card and 1 Gb of
