the CIDFonts turn up. To my understanding the PDF produced for printing
can't contain CIDFonts, since (as Chris explained) they are an exclusive

I am sorry, but my initial report was not fully accurate. When preparing
the files you asked for, I discovered some more details.
Ubuntu 11.10 and 10.04 do NOT differ in the way 'gedit' prints. Both
produce PS files that result in non-searchable PDFs (generated with
`ps2pdf`). See the files 'print

I use Ubuntu Jaunty with a Nvidia card in TwinView mode.
Renaming the file /usr/lib/googleearth/libssl.so.0.9.8.removed-by-installer to
/usr/lib/googleearth/libssl.so.0.9.8 solved this problem for me too. Thanks :)
