Today, Jun 16, 2021, I booted successfully 10 times on the Lenovo, with
NO failed boots. I did an update after the first boot. The last time I
attempted to boot Ubuntu 20.04 on the Lenovo was Apr 22, 2021. It failed
to boot 3 of 5 tries. The two successes were in recovery mode.

As my bug explains, my 2015 Flex 3-1480 has a similar boot issue

Anyone think these are the same bug?

Hmm! I just read the news that Ubuntu 21.04 is failing to boot on older

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Fails
Public bug reported:
I've been running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS since May 2020. On Nov 12 I did a
system update. The update requested a reboot. The system never
completed the reboot.
NOTE: Your guide lines say to select "linux" as the package if booting
fails even in the "recovery"mode. So I did. Even th
FYI: MX Linux currently is the most downloaded distro on distro watch.
I erroneously assumed that there was only ONE Linux kernel bug fix team.
My mistake.
So, what is the process where kernel bugs fixed by Ubuntu migrate to the
other distro kernels and vice versa?

vmlinuz-5.4.0-65-generic - Linux Mint 20.1

OOPS! I discovered that this is NOT REALLY FIXED!
I changed it from "Fixed Released" to "New" I'm sure this is not appropriate,
but no other available options made any sense whatsoever.
I will resubmit this in a few days. I have more information to supply.

I don't know what package handles hfs+ file system read/writes. I don't
understand the innards of Linux well enough to figure that out. All I
know, is that is is deep in the guts of Linux.
