I too cannot boot the linux-image-5.4.0-52-lowlatency kernel , here's
the last couple of lines before a hang

i'm having sound issues in chrome too, especially with pandora.
setting "enable_msi=0" did not solve my problem, appeared to make it
worse. i think the value of that setting may be determined by your
exact hardware.

I'm seeing this bug on 3 totally different machines, all booting off usb
drives, all without CD drives.
luckily, all the usb drives are just /boot, and i can bring them up
manually with "mount -a" when i need to do /boot update/upgrades

I believe I'm experiencing this bug on Intel DQ45CB (ICH10) jaunty
server x64 2.6.28-13-server using all 5 sata connections for hard
drives. I've tried rotating the power cables, hard drives, and sata
cables, still it is always happening on ata5. other than this,
everything appears to work fine o
i too have the DQ45CB and can say that disabling USB legacy support
solved the problem for me, with the pre 85 bios, that one bricked my

i've seen issue on both SATA and USB attached disks. also, doing MD5sum
checks of the install cd fails on that machine ... but same disk does
