1. I meant that sound does not work in TvTime, Amarok and SMplayer among a few
others.
2. I cannot start the kmix mixer applet
3. However, sound works in KMplayer. KMplayer also gives multiple options for
sound output which allowed for the testing and resu

This is similar to #372340, which was left unanswered. However, that bug
report was for the upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10, so this may or may not be
a duplicate.
