I'm still on 12.04 but now I'm running the Raring kernel - the latest 3.8.0.
I've also update the ALSA drivers with the latest build from the information
above. I'm attaching the output of dmesg. I can still see totem failing with:

I've installed the oem-audio-hda-daily-lts-quantal-dkms DEB package.
Restarted the system and the problem was still reproducible (The totem
plugin crashes when I press the play button in the browser tab with the
cited video). Then I noticed that the NoScript Firefox blocker was
active and blocking
