When I connect my XPS 13 (12.04 fully patched) to an external monitor
via mini display port, I can mirror and extend no problem.
However, when I disconnect the monitor the laptop display blanks and
does not come back on.
I tried turning off the external monitor in system pre
I'm not able to reproduce this anymore. A fresh install of 13.04 after
release has the indicators showing.

Brightness control on Dell XPS
I'm not having any luck with this, however I required to reinstall the
bootable USB stick, and now I get the on screen brightness indication.

It'll take me a couple of days to try this.
I've been running 13.04 from a live USB stick, mainly because I wanted
to see if MTP to my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 Android devices is working,
which it is.
Anyway I installed the new kernel onto 13,04 running on the USB stick
thinking it would be OK, b

As it says. On 12.04 changing the screen brightness causes an on-screen
image that shows where the brightness ie between all the way and all the
way up.
On the 13.04 beta I installed today, no screen image so I don't know
where I've set the brightness.
