This issue is also observed on the Thinkpad L520 laptop.
In addition to the mute speakers, there is a light on the mute
microphone button as well. The buttons work correctly. However, the
lights don't change to reflect the status.

To get seahorse to automatically add the key, you will have to export
the public key and save it as id_rsa.pub.
$ ssh-keygen -y
Enter file in which the key is (/home/pravin/.ssh/id_rsa):
Enter passphrase:
And then save the public key generated in a file called id_rsa.pub
(using copy+paste)

Confirmed. Ubuntu 8.10 still has the bug. Installing texlive-latex-
recommended doesn't solve the problem.

I'm experiencing the same issue on Ubuntu 8.04. The laptop gets
unbearably hot. If I boot into XP, the temperature is normal.
I'm turning off all power management for now.
No indexing services are being run. cron/anacron/at are also turned off.

+1. Happens with me too. Didn't happen in 7.10.
I have to kill X (by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Bksp) and then try logging in a
few more times. Usually the 2nd or the 3rd try is successful. Sometimes
it takes as many as 4-5 tries.
